Every story deserves
its own music.

Songumentary composes original music for the moments and works that matter — a play, a wedding, a tribute, a cause, a life. Words first, always. Music made to fit one story and no other.

Nine ways to commission

Three families. One craft behind all of them.

The process

How a commission works

Four stages, whether it's a theatre score or a wedding song.

1

Tell us the story

Who it's for, what it needs to feel, and when you need it. Every commission starts with the words.

2

We design the music

Dramatic analysis, aural world-building, structural choices — before a note is written.

3

We compose

Original music, made for this story and no other. Human judgement at every stage.

4

You receive

Your finished music, packaged for its purpose — stage, screen, or a gift that plays on any device.

Rajeev "MelRaj" Arora

Founder · Artistic Director

Rajeev Arora has been telling stories to an audience since 1992 — first on air, now in music.

For more than thirty years he has convened and hosted the Indian Program at Radio 3ZZZ, Melbourne's multicultural community station, work recognised in 2025 with the NEMBC Award for Best National Ethnic Program of the Year. Across a forty-year career in technology — including as a Chief Innovation Officer — he carried a parallel life as a writer, lyricist and Hindi poet, publishing poetry across five decades.

In 2025 those two lives met. Rajeev released his first album of AI-composed music, then presented the first fully-AI-music program on community radio — not as a novelty, but as a new instrument in a craftsman's hands. The words are still written. The judgement is still human. The music is made to serve the story, as it always was.

Today he writes under the Songumentary name for theatre, schools, celebrations, and causes, and under Campus Rhythms for institutions — most notably Campus Rhythms BITS Pilani, an album and book created for a Golden Jubilee reunion and performed to a standing ovation.

How we use AI — and why it matters

AI is how Rajeev composes music. It is not how the story is told — that is still human, start to finish. Every commission begins with words written for this story. Every arrangement, every cue placement, every final choice is a human decision.

We believe in being explicit about this, not because it's required, but because it's honest. The full account of how craft and AI intersect in this studio lives at akunamedia.studio/our-approach.
